Students who would like to gain professional experience in an international environment can apply for the WBG Pioneers programme organised by the World Bank Group.

The programme is intended for those interested in the global economy, finance, social development, technology, environmental protection and many other areas in which one of the world’s leading international institutions operates.

The programme gives participants the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects carried out by World Bank Group teams. Interns are not limited to observing the organisation’s work. Depending on the position, they may be involved in analysis, research, preparing materials, working with data, project communications or activities supporting the development of specific initiatives.

Working on real-world challenges

WBG Pioneers is aimed at final-year undergraduate students, Master’s students and doctoral candidates. The programme is looking for applicants who have a good command of English, are interested in the work of the World Bank Group and would like to develop their skills in an international environment.

The range of available internships is broad. Opportunities may cover areas such as economics, finance, data analysis, artificial intelligence, communications, marketing, public health, education, climate protection, infrastructure, public administration and human resources management. This means that candidates from a variety of academic backgrounds can find a position suited to their interests and previous experience.

Internships are offered across different World Bank Group units, both in Washington, D.C. and in the organisation’s offices in other parts of the world. Depending on the position, the internship may be completed on-site, in a hybrid format or remotely.
