Placement Overview
When applying for an internship, applicants should clearly indicate their interest in working with the MSPCA Charity Shops.
- Position Title: Charity Shop Assistant (Training Placement)
- Start Date: Flexible, to be arranged with the student
- Duration: Maximum of 35 hours per week, completed over a minimum of 8+ weeks
- Schedule: Typically between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Saturday (roster-based)
- Location as Applicable: MSPCA Charity Shops are located in Sliema and San Gwann and the warehouse is in Naxxar
- Supervision: Interns will be supervised by the Shop Manager or designated team lead
Key Learning Opportunities
Students will gain practical experience in:
• Customer service and retail operations
• Visual merchandising and shop display management
• Stock sorting, pricing, and inventory control
• Cash handling and point-of-sale procedures
• Donor and volunteer engagement
• Understanding how charity retail supports NGO fundraising and welfare initiatives
• Promoting sustainability through upcycling and second-hand retail practices
• Administrative and marketing support related to shop activities
