Students who would like to gain professional experience in an international environment can apply for the WBG Pioneers programme organised by the World Bank Group.<\/p>\n
The programme is intended for those interested in the global economy, finance, social development, technology, environmental protection and many other areas in which one of the world\u2019s leading international institutions operates.<\/p>\n
The programme gives participants the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects carried out by World Bank Group teams. Interns are not limited to observing the organisation\u2019s work. Depending on the position, they may be involved in analysis, research, preparing materials, working with data, project communications or activities supporting the development of specific initiatives.<\/p>\n
WBG Pioneers is aimed at final-year undergraduate students, Master\u2019s students and doctoral candidates. The programme is looking for applicants who have a good command of English, are interested in the work of the World Bank Group and would like to develop their skills in an international environment.<\/p>\n
The range of available internships is broad. Opportunities may cover areas such as economics, finance, data analysis, artificial intelligence, communications, marketing, public health, education, climate protection, infrastructure, public administration and human resources management. This means that candidates from a variety of academic backgrounds can find a position suited to their interests and previous experience.<\/p>\n
Internships are offered across different World Bank Group units, both in Washington, D.C. and in the organisation\u2019s offices in other parts of the world. Depending on the position, the internship may be completed on-site, in a hybrid format or remotely.<\/p>\n
Participation in WBG Pioneers provides an opportunity to learn how a major international organisation operates and to gain experience working on projects of economic and social importance.<\/p>\n
It is also an opportunity to collaborate with specialists from different countries, develop analytical and communication skills, and gain a better understanding of international development processes.<\/p>\n
For many students, the programme may also be the first step towards a career in international organisations, public institutions, the financial sector, consulting or non-governmental organisations.<\/p>\n
It is important to note that the conditions of participation may vary depending on the specific position. The programme includes both paid internships and opportunities offered on a no-fee basis.<\/p>\n
In the latter case, applicants may be required to confirm that the internship forms part of their study programme or to provide information about a scholarship. Candidates should therefore read the description of the selected opportunity carefully before submitting their application.<\/p>\n
Candidates may apply for up to three selected positions. The application process is conducted in English, and the required documents may include a CV, cover letter, academic transcript or confirmation of student status.<\/p>\n
Applications for the autumn\u2013winter edition of the programme are open until 12 August 2026. Interviews with shortlisted candidates are expected to take place in September, while the results of the recruitment process are due to be announced in October.<\/p>\n
